Professional background: Georgia Menounou is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dublin City University, working with Prof. Andrew Kellett on the development of advanced hybrid materials for targeted gene therapy. She is also a Co-Supervisor of the NATURE-ETN project, with over 8 years of experience in the fields of synthetic, bioorganic and biomimetic chemistry. She received her M.Sc. in 2014 at the University of Crete (Greece), working on the “Isolation and Synthesis of Natural Products with Biological Activity”. In 2015, she moved to the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Photoreactivity (ISOF), CNR, Italy as an early-stage researcher in the H2020-MSCA-ITN “ClickGene” project. She was awarded a Ph.D. in 2018, working on the development of a novel approach to antitumor strategies: how copper-based metallodrugs can target both DNA and membrane lipids by inducing modifications in their structure.
